Our Siena vs. Nectar Bed Comparison for 2024

Siena and Nectar are two different mattress brands that are both owned by Resident Home. In our comparison between the Siena and the Nectar Mattress, we’ll debate the similarities and differences between these two all-foam beds.

The Nectar bed is a 12-inch memory foam mattress with a lifetime warranty. The Siena is a slightly more affordable mattress that is 10 inches tall and has a thicker memory foam layer than the Nectar.

Throughout this article, we’ll compare various features of these two mattresses, whether it be their level of firmness or the length of their sleep trial. Who knows, you might prefer the less expensive Siena foam bed, or maybe you’d rather spend a little more for Nectar’s deep hug.

Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology

Emma from our review team tested both the Siena and Nectar mattresses for this comparison, which you can also watch in her video review above. During her testing of these mattresses, she assessed how their respective mattress stacked up for side, back, and stomach sleeping, looking at qualities like pressure relief and support. She also evaluated the mattresses for specific categories that are important to many sleepers, including cooling, bounce, motion isolation, and edge support.

Who I’d Recommend the Siena For

  • Couples – We like the Siena mattress for couples because it provides great motion isolation and edge support, which means you can sleep without disturbing your partner, and you can spread out to the edges of your bed while maintaining proper support. Check out our Best Mattresses for Couples.
  • Budget shoppers – This is an affordable mattress, especially when compared to other foam mattresses. That being said, the Siena is still constructed with quality materials.
  • Stomach sleepers – The Siena is a firmer mattress compared to some other all-foam beds, so it is a great option for stomach sleepers, who need a bed firm enough to maintain spinal support. If stomach sleepers sleep on a mattress that is too soft, their hips and lumbar spine may sink too deep into the bed, causing discomfort.

Who I’d Recommend the Nectar For

  • Couples – Like the Siena, we also really like the Nectar for couples due to its thick foam foundational layer that provides stability, along with its good motion isolation and versatile medium-firm feel.
  • People who need pressure relief – Nectar’s flagship memory foam bed is designed to cradle the body, relieving pressure in sensitive, achy areas. The soft foam on the top of this mattress contours around the curves of the body, which makes it an especially great choice for side sleepers who need relief around their hips and shoulders.
  • Side and back sleepers – As mentioned, the soft top of the Nectar bed works for side sleepers who need a soft caress around their hips and shoulders. We also recommend this mattress for back sleepers because it provides both plush comfort and spinal support.

Comparing Siena vs Nectar: Top Similarities

  • All-foam design – Both of these mattresses have all-foam designs, without innersprings or latex. This gives them both a motion-isolating, traditional memory foam mattress feel.
  • Cooling gel – The Siena and the Nectar mattresses contain gel in their memory foam to promote cooling and temperature regulation. These features are especially preferred by people who sleep hot or live in a warmer climate.
  • Medium-firm – We have classified both of these mattresses as medium-firm beds, which means they are suitable for a wider range of sleepers.

Comparing Siena vs Nectar: Key Differences

  • Height – The Nectar mattress is 12 inches tall, and the Siena bed is 2 inches shorter, at 10 inches. You may want to consider the height difference if you already have a fitted sheet for your bed.
  • Price – Even though both of these mattresses are pretty affordable, Siena’s mattress is slightly less expensive than Nectar’s. Make sure you check their respective websites for discounts and deals, though.
  • Layers – Although the Siena and Nectar mattresses are both foam beds, the construction of their layers differs. Siena has a thicker memory foam layer, and Nectar has a thicker response layer, and these differences slightly affect the beds’ performance.

Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel

Firmness

We rate firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, and Nectar and Siena are comparable in this area. We rate both Nectar and Siena as a 6.5 out of 10, both being medium-firm.

Due to the differing foam layers, the Siena mattress seems slightly firmer than the Nectar. However, since they are practically the same in terms of firmness, it is wise to also consider other factors when choosing between these beds.

Mattress Firmness Level 6.5

Support

The support provided by both Siena and Nectar is really great, but heavier folks may not feel enough support from either bed.

Stomach sleepers who need more spinal support will likely prefer the Siena over Nectar because Siena is slightly firmer. The Siena also has great edge support, especially for a foam bed.

Nectar is preferred by side and back sleepers; it may not provide enough support for most stomach sleepers though. This mattress has decent edge support, but you may still feel like you’re sliding off the edges.

Feel

When our reviewers felt the Siena mattress, they initially noted the soft cover and the cool sensation from the gel-infused foam. As they settled into the bed, they felt the mattress contour to the curves of their body.

Similarly, when testing the Nectar bed, our reviewers were impressed by the cozy mattress cover and cooling feel of the gel foam. They felt like the top layer of the mattress cradled the body, yet they still noted a good sense of mobility with this bed.

Comparing Sinkage and Bounce

Nectar offers sleepers a deep hug, while the Siena fosters a gentle cradle. Stomach sleepers might feel like they sink too deep into the Nectar bed, and heavier folks are likely to experience too much sinkage with both mattresses.

Neither Siena nor Nectar will offer as much bounce as a hybrid, innerspring, or latex mattress. In previous testing, we noticed some bounce in the Siena and little to no bounce in the Nectar. Yet, when we tested these beds for a comparison, we did notice a little bit more bounce in the Nectar compared to the Siena.

Comparing Motion Transfer

Motion transfer occurs when movement transfers across the surface of the mattress when one person moves. Couples usually want a bed with little motion transfer, so they aren’t disturbed throughout the night.

The Siena has excellent motion isolation due to its thick top memory foam layer, so couples shouldn’t experience sleep disruptions.

Similarly, we were very pleased when we tested Nectar’s motion transfer. The medium-firm foam bed does a really great job of isolating movement when someone is tossing and turning on one side of the bed.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with either of these beds in terms of motion isolation.

Comparing Cooling

The Siena and Nectar beds both have cooling qualities, which means they absorb moisture, are breathable, and regulate body temperature. With both mattresses, our reviewers immediately noted that the beds felt cool when lying on them.

The Siena mattress provides temperature control with its gel-infused memory foam layer. This bed also includes a breathable, stretchy cover.

The Nectar bed also contains gel-infused memory foam that keeps the body cool. Its cover is also designed to wick away heat.

Although each of these mattresses has cooling qualities, extra-hot sleepers may still find both of these beds to be too hot. This heat is due to the all-foam design that makes airflow more difficult.

Siena Construction

The 10-inch, all-foam Siena mattress features a breathable, stretchy, soft mattress cover that protects the mattress beneath. Between each layer of this mattress, there are air pockets that enhance the bed’s breathability.

See the Siena construction up close

  • The top layer is a responsive memory foam that conforms to the body, relieving pressure and pain. This layer contains cooling gel that helps you stay dry and comfortable throughout the night.
  • The body supporting layer is made of a convoluted foam that provides cushion and support. The ripple indentation in this foam layer helps create extra breathability. Additionally, this layer reduces motion transfer, which is ideal for couples.
  • Next is a 5.5-inch foundational foam layer that is sturdy and assists with spinal support. This layer also aids with motion isolation.
  • At the base, you’ll find a shift-resistant cover designed to keep your mattress in place so the mattress doesn’t slip and slide around.

Nectar Construction

The Nectar mattress is a 12-inch bed that is topped with a poly-blend cover that offers surface cooling and moisture-wicking to help you stay cool and dry. This cover also protects the mattress. A cooling gel memory foam material is quilted underneath the cover, which gives the surface of the bed a plush texture.

Testing the layers and construction of the nectar mattress
The inside of the Nectar mattress.
  • Under the mattress cover is a 2-inch gel-infused memory foam layer. This gel is meant to help reduce heat and regulate body temperature. The memory foam contours to the curves of the body, reducing pressure and providing cushioned relief.
  • Going deeper into the mattress, you’ll find 3inches of soft premium foam that makes up the support layer. This firmer layer offers a slight bounce that helps sleepers reposition but also eases the weight of your body into the mattress.
  • The base is made of 7 inches of foam. This unit provides the bed with durability and stability.

Comparing Company Policies & Price

  • Warranty – Siena has a 10-year warranty, while Nectar has their Forever warranty.
  • Shipping – Siena ships to the U.S. and Canada. Nectar ships to the U.S., with optional white-glove delivery.
  • Trial Period – Siena’s trial period lasts 180 nights, and Nectar has a 365-night trial period. A trial period is great because if you test your mattress and aren’t satisfied, you can return the product and be refunded.
  • Returns – For the Siena mattress, you can return the bed for free and receive a refund after sleeping on your mattress for at least 30 nights. With Nectar’s bed, returns are free for the contiguous United States. If you live in Hawaii and Alaska, you can return the mattress with a delivery fee.
  • Price – Both the Siena and Nectar mattresses are very affordable choices, especially before any discounts are applied. However, for each size mattress, the Siena is a little bit more affordable than the Nectar, so take this into consideration when deciding between the two. It is also important to note that Siena doesn’t offer a Split King mattress, but Nectar does. Make sure you check Siena and Nectar’s websites for discounts.

Final Thoughts

Which bed do we think is better?  We think both mattresses are fantastic selections, so the answer will depend on personal preference.

Siena’s prices are slightly lower than Nectar’s, so if you’re on a tight budget, price alone could set these beds apart. The Nectar envelops the body in a deep hug, while the Siena provides a more gentle cradle, leaving a bit more ‘on top of’ the mattress.

Ultimately, both foam beds should result in a great night’s sleep,  but each mattress has its own unique qualities. If you’re still indecisive about whether you should purchase a Siena or Nectar bed, make sure you check out our full-length reviews.
