Who We Recommend The Nectar Hybrid For:
- Back sleepers – Back sleepers should like the Nectar Hybrid’s mid-range firmness, offering sufficient support in this position. The bed’s upper layers offer a gentle hug as they help distribute your weight evenly, keep your spine straight, and contour the lower back.
- Couples – This Nectar model is an excellent match for people sharing a bed as it has good motion isolation, edge support, and cooling properties, all of which are important to couples.
- Memory foam fans – Although this is a hybrid bed, it has memory foam that hugs the body and prevents pressure build-up. The foam responds slowly but shouldn’t make it difficult to reposition or get out of bed.
Who We Don’t Recommend The Nectar Hybrid For:
- People with shoulder pain – Some side sleepers may feel the pressure building up in the shoulder area. The hips should sink just enough, but we did not notice as much sinkage where the shoulders are, which may feel uncomfortable and cause you to wake up with achiness.
- Minimal bounce – This hybrid mattress lacks a bit of bounce. Although it’s a hybrid with coils, it has slow-responding foam layers on top, absorbing the bounce that the coils could deliver. Repositioning should be easy, but those who want a bouncy bed, such as sexually-active partners, may be left wanting more.
First Impressions: Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6.5-7/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.

The Nectar Classic Hybrid mattress is rated 6.5-7 out of 10 on our firmness scale. This falls in the medium to medium-firm category and is among the most versatile firmness levels that should fit most people.
The mattress doesn’t have much bounce, and you’ll feel more “on” it than “in”, which is due to its firmness level. However, this should be good for people with mobility issues and combination sleepers since it doesn’t trap you, making it easy to reposition. This firmness level allows a bit of cradling and pressure relief without making you feel stuck in the foam layers.
How Does It Feel?
The Nectar Classic Hybrid has a medium firmness, so it should fit a variety of sleepers. However, lightweight and average-weight people will experience it as firmer than those weighing over 230 pounds. The cover feels slightly cool to the touch, soft, and a bit stretchy. However, it’s not removable, so spot-cleaning is the only option.
Lying on the bed, you’ll feel more gentle cradling around the sensitive areas, but you won’t sink too deeply since the deeper layers respond more quickly than the upper foam.
What We Like About the Nectar Hybrid
- Versatile Firmness – 6.5-7 is a good score on our firmness scale, indicating that this bed should fit most sleepers, depending on their body weight. Back sleepers should like this bed the most, although heavier side sleepers may also benefit from this firmness level.
- Excellent Motion Isolation – Although this is a hybrid, it does a good job of isolating motion. The bed isn’t as bouncy, which allows the upper foam layers to absorb motion so that it doesn’t transfer from one side of the bed to the other.
- Cooling – The coils in this hybrid should deliver sufficient airflow to keep the construction cool. In addition, the Nectar Classic Hybrid has a cool-to-the-touch cover along with gel-infused memory foam.
Our Nectar Hybrid Complaints
- Too Firm for Side Sleepers – Most side sleepers are likely to find this Nectar too firm. Granted, how a mattress feels is subjective, but people with broader shoulders may find pressure building up in this area when sleeping on their side. Check out our best mattresses for side sleepers article to learn more.
- Minimal Bounce – People who prefer a buoyant bed may want to look for another option because this Nectar offers minimal bounce.
- Too Firm for Lightweight Sleepers – Those who prefer a firmer mattress should be okay with how the Nectar feels. However, lightweight people who enjoy a softer bed will find the Nectar Classic Hybrid too firm, especially for side sleeping.
Testing the Nectar Hybrid Mattress: How it Performed
We tested the Nectar Classic Hybrid in different sleeping positions to evaluate how it feels in each posture for pressure relief and support. We also tested for edge support by lying close to the edge for an extended period. Additionally, we looked at motion isolation, cooling, and bounce to help us provide better insight into who we think this bed fits best.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
The Nectar Classic Hybrid is one of the newer models in the brand’s line, so research is still ongoing. For this reason, we don’t have a precise number when it comes to how much weight the bed can handle. However, the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress (the company’s flagship model) can support up to 600 pounds total, meaning that this hybrid should be able to support more than that. The coils make the bed more durable and resilient because they support the upper foam layers, preventing them from sagging under the weight.
Weight | Side Sleepers![]() | Back Sleepers![]() | Stomach Sleepers![]() |
---|---|---|---|
Lightweight Sleepers (-130 lbs) | ☆☆☆ | ★★☆ | ★★☆ |
Average-Weight Sleepers (130-230 lbs) | ★★☆ | ★★★ | ★★☆ |
Heavyweight Sleepers (+230 lbs) | ★☆☆ | ★☆☆ | ☆☆☆ |
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight side sleepers may find the Nectar Classic Hybrid too firm for pressure relief. This is especially the case if your shoulders are much broader than your hips.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight side sleepers should like how this Nectar feels, especially if they weigh 170 to 200 pounds. This group should feel more cradling and pressure relief in the hips but not as much in the shoulder area though, so keep this in mind.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Heavyweight sleepers may sink a bit too much, especially if they weigh well over 230 pounds. In this case, they may prefer a firmer mattress.
Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Back sleepers usually prefer medium-firm mattresses, and this Nectar should feel even firmer if you weigh less than 130 pounds. The foam layers should cradle your lower back while the coils keep the spine aligned.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – People weighing between 130 and 230 pounds should get the perfect balance of pressure relief and support, especially in the lower back, which is the most sensitive area for them.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – The Nectar Classic Hybrid might not be firm enough for heavy people sleeping on their backs. The hips may sink too deeply, throwing the spine out of alignment.
Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight stomach sleepers may get sufficient support from this Nectar hybrid mattress. The bed has a medium to medium-firm feel, which should be enough to support stomach sleepers weighing under 130 pounds.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Average-weight stomach sleepers could get a different feel, depending on their exact body weight. Those closer to 230 pounds may find it too soft, while those around 150-170 pounds should like the support level it provides.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Those weighing over 230 pounds could find this bed too soft to support the hips when sleeping on their stomach. The hips would sink too deeply, which usually results in back pain.
Pressure Relief & Pain
The Nectar Hybrid battles pressure accumulation by incorporating two foam layers before the coil unit. The quilted cover feels soft and gentle to the skin, while the foam offers gentle contouring. Back sleepers will feel the contouring in the lower back, helping to prevent pressure from building up in this area.
Nectar’s mid-range firmness also gives a good balance of support and pressure relief. However, some side sleepers, especially exclusive ones, may prefer an even softer bed.
Back Pain – Back pain can make it difficult to fall and stay asleep, so it’s best to look for a bed that has a strong support system that helps keep the spine aligned. This Nectar is a hybrid, and its coil unit should hold your body in alignment to help alleviate back pain.
Hip Pain – Hip pain is another concern, especially if you like sleeping on the side and stomach. The Nectar Classic Hybrid allows a bit of sinkage to cradle the sensitive areas while keeping the hips aligned with the rest of the body.
Shoulder Pain – Shoulder pain can be especially difficult for side sleepers, so they often need a bed that gives them exceptional pressure relief. Though this bed contains memory foam, it might not provide the level of sinkage needed to soften shoulder discomfort. If you’re a heavier sleeper, this bed might be okay for shoulder pain, but average and lightweight people may desire something softer.

Support
Nectar excels in support because it has a sturdy coil unit with 8-inch high coils underneath the foam layers. The coils are more responsive than the foam, giving the bed some bounce.
The design of this bed is a classic hybrid one. The coils in the Nectar go from edge to edge, meaning that you get equal support in the perimeter and the center of the bed. The Nectar Classic Hybrid is rated 6.5-7 out of 10 on our firmness scale, so it should provide plenty of support for stomach sleepers, back sleepers, and some heavier people (above 230 pounds) who like sleeping on their side.
Motion Transfer
Motion isolation is crucial for couples, especially if one person is a restless sleeper or a combination sleeper. Sharing a bed with someone who likes changing positions throughout the night can be stressful, more so if you’re easily disturbed yourself.
The Nectar Classic Hybrid isn’t as good at isolating motion as Nectar’s all-foam mattresses. However, the bed does well nonetheless. This hybrid has two foam layers above the coils, which are individually wrapped for better motion isolation.

Temperature Regulation / Cooling
This Nectar hybrid mattress has multiple cooling features to ensure that the construction remains cool enough for hot sleepers to enjoy a good night’s sleep. Hybrids are naturally cooler than all-foam mattresses thanks to the coil unit that allows more air to flow through. In addition, the Nectar Classic Hybrid has a cool-to-the-touch cover that remains temperature neutral throughout the night. Below the cover, there’s a layer of gel-infused memory foam. The gel helps the memory foam remain cool.

Performance for Couples
Couples should like how this Nectar mattress feels, although some may prefer a bed with more bounce. The Nectar Classic Hybrid has a versatile firmness level that should fit most people, but it also does a good job of isolating motion and providing edge support. The thicker-gauge coils in the perimeter let couples use the entire surface of the bed, while the motion isolation ensures partners don’t disturb one another when tossing and turning.

Preference-based Features
Hybrid Design
The Nectar Classic Hybrid offers a balance of foam and coils, delivering support and cushioning. The combination of coils and foam makes this bed versatile enough to support many sleepers, including partners with different sleeping habits.
White Glove Delivery
White-Glove Delivery is available at checkout for an additional fee of 149 dollars. Although it’s an added cost, the service is convenient because it includes delivering the mattress and setting it up. There’s even an option to have your old mattress removed.
Two Covers
This hybrid has top and bottom covers, both serving different purposes. The top is a cooling, circle-knit cover that’s gentle to the touch, while the bottom is a shift-resistant one that prevents the mattress from moving on the bed’s foundation.
Cooling
Hybrids are naturally more cooling than all-foam beds because the coil unit fosters airflow. However, Nectar went a step further and included a cool-to-the-touch cover and memory foam with gel infusions to help hot sleepers achieve a better night’s sleep.
Excellent Edge Support
The Nectar Classic Hybrid has coils from edge to edge, providing exceptional edge support for those who like to spread across the entire bed. The higher-gauge coils in the perimeter should make you feel equally well-supported on the edge of the bed.
Motion Isolation
Although all-foam mattresses are often better at isolating motion than hybrids, the Nectar Classic Hybrid does a fairly good job. The upper foam layers have very little bounce and are good at absorbing movement, so partners with different sleep habits shouldn’t disturb one another.
Construction: What’s Inside Nectar Hybrid?
The Nectar Classic Hybrid is 12 inches tall with six layers, including a quilted cooling cover and a shift-resistant lower cover. The top cover has Microban Antimicrobial Protection and technology to keep hot sleepers cool and the mattress surface fresh. The lower cover should prevent the mattress from sliding on the foundation. The bed also has four handles (two on each side) to make it easy to carry.
- Below the quilted cooling cover is another cooling layer. This one is made from two inches of gel memory foam to further cool the mattress and aid with pressure relief.
- Further down is the Dynamic Transition Layer made from an inch of premium foam. This layer helps support the body while providing a bit of bounce for easier repositioning.
- The coil unit features 8-inch individually-wrapped coils going from one edge to the other. This is the bed’s main support system, holding the body in alignment while also supporting the upper layers. The unit also provides excellent edge support.
- The Stability Base Layer is the last in this bed’s construction, featuring an inch of sturdy foam. Although it’s thin, this layer makes a significant difference in the stability and support of the upper layers.
Despite being a hybrid, this mattress isn’t very bouncy. The layers are stacked to provide airflow, gentle hugging, and support, all of which are important if you’re after a comfortable hybrid mattress.

Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Nectar Classic Hybrid comes compressed and rolled into a box for easy shipping. Once it arrives on your doorstep, you should be able to easily carry it to the bedroom with the help of a friend or family member. Although the package isn’t as cumbersome, it can be heavy depending on the bed size you bought.
You can place it on the bed foundation and open the package to allow the mattress to unroll right on the foundation. The handles are built-in, so you can easily move the bed around. This hybrid takes several hours to decompress, and you may even notice some off-gassing. We suggest you leave it for 24-48 hours, which is how long most bed-in-a-box mattresses take to decompress and ventilate.

- Eco-Friendly Certifications – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the lifespan of the Nectar Classic Hybrid mattress?
The Nectar Classic Hybrid is a durable hybrid mattress made from a combination of high-quality coils and foam layers. This mattress should last seven to ten years with proper use.
Is the Nectar Classic Hybrid mattress worth it?
Although the Nectar Classic Hybrid isn’t the cheapest Nectar mattress, it delivers a lot of value for your dollar. Hybrids are typically more expensive than all-foam mattresses, but they’re often superior at support and cooling, so if these qualities are important to you, then this bed could be worth it.
Do I have to flip the Nectar Classic Hybrid mattress?
The Nectar Classic Hybrid isn’t a flippable mattress. By flipping it, you change how the layers stack and perform, which can throw the entire feel off. However, you can still rotate the mattress to achieve even wear and tear over the years.

Overall Summary
Nectar makes outstanding mattresses suitable for a range of sleepers, and their Classic Hybrid offers enhanced comfort and durability.

Side Sleepers
Side sleepers may notice that their shoulders don’t sink enough to prevent increased pressure. The hips should sink fine, but the bed leaves much to be desired for the shoulder area. Heavier sleepers should sink more, but average and lightweight side sleepers may want a softer bed.

Back Sleepers
This bed is an excellent match for back sleepers because the foams offer gentle cradling in the lower back area. Back sleepers should like that the bed holds their spine straight in this position while their weight is evenly distributed across the entire surface to prevent pressure build-up. Still, some heavier back sleepers might like a firmer mattress.

Stomach Sleepers
Lightweight stomach sleepers should like the firmness of the Nectar Classic Hybrid, as well as the durability and enhanced support from the coils. People weighing under 130 pounds who like sleeping on their stomachs are likely to find this bed comfortable as the foams and coils support the hips and help keep the spine straight. However, heavier folks may prefer a firmer bed.

Combination Sleepers
The Nectar Classic Hybrid should be a good match for people who like to change positions throughout the night. The mattress lacks bounce and has slow-responding foam, but its firmness should keep you “on” the bed instead of “in” it, which means you’re unlikely to feel stuck.

Couples
Couples usually look for motion isolation, edge support, and cooling, all of which can be found in the Nectar Classic Hybrid mattress. This bed has a reinforced perimeter, cooling features, and dense, movement-absorbing foam so that partners don’t wake one another up when tossing and turning.

Heavy Sleepers
Folks weighing under 230 pounds should find sufficient support in the Nectar’s coil unit and overall firmness. The bed should work for back sleepers and heavier people who like sleeping on their side. However, it may be too soft for heavier individuals who sleep on their stomachs or back, especially if they weigh more than 230 pounds.

Lightweight Sleepers
Lighter than average sleepers may feel that this bed is too firm for pressure relief, especially for those sleeping on their side. The foams do offer a bit of contouring, but lightweight folks may be too light to activate the layers before ever feeling the responsiveness of the coil unit. However, lightweight stomach sleepers should find this firmness excellent to support the hips in this position.

Average-Weight Sleepers
Average-weight sleepers who prefer sleeping on their side and back should find this Nectar comfortable. The mid-range firmness allows a balance of pressure relief and support for those weighing 130 to 230 pounds. The only exception might be some average-weight stomach sleepers, who could want something slightly firmer.
Overall Value
The Nectar Hybrid is an excellent option for many different sleepers, packing a lot of value by delivering cooling, pressure relief, motion isolation, and edge support all in one. Plus, the year-long trial and a lifetime warranty make it that much more worthy of your attention.
Our Verdict
After carefully testing the Nectar Classic Hybrid, we think it’s best for couples, back sleepers, and average-size sleepers. Many combination sleepers should like this bed, but those who want more bounce may prefer a latex hybrid instead. The Nectar has a durable construction that combines foam and individually wrapped, high-gauge coils. As such, this Nectar should deliver comfort, support, and cooling.
Although it may not be ideal for slide sleepers, significantly heavier folks, and lighter-than-average sleepers, the bed is versatile enough to accommodate many other sleep styles and body types. All of this, with the addition of an industry-leading warranty and trial, makes it a great option to consider.
