Quick Comparison: Nectar vs Sparrow Signature Hybrid

Both these mattresses have plenty of useful features, but is there a clear winner? That’s up to you. Here are some of the biggest differences.

We Would Recommend Buying Nectar if You are Looking for:

  • A tighter budget option. Nectars design is great for people looking to get the most for their dollar. This is a popular bed-in-a-box option that customers rave over.
  • Pure memory foam. This product uses three layers of memory material and a quilted gel infused memory top to provide optimal pressure relief and that deep hug that memory foam lovers adore.
  • Great motion isolation. Foam thrives when it comes to keeping motion to one side of the bed. This memory product should leave couples sleeping unaware of their partner’s nighttime adventures.

We Would Recommend Buying Sparrow Signature Hybrid if You are Looking for:

  • Exceptional cooling properties. Copper, phase change cooling tech, breathable layers, and more all work to keep this mattress temperature regulated.
  • Edge support. Quantum® Edge pocket support coils line the perimeter of the bed to maximize your sleeping surface at night.
  • A foam hybrid. Customers get the conforming properties of memory material along with the traditional feel of an innerspring mattress. The combination of these material foster excellent pressure relief and body support.

Comparing Firmness (Support & Feel)

Nectar is only available in a Medium firmness, while the Sparrow comes in a Plush, Medium, and Firm. This review will compare both brands in a Medium configuration.

On our firmness scale, both of these mattresses score somewhere in the medium range. This is versatile for sleepers because this range seems to work with the most body types and sleeping positions. Sparrow scores a 5.5, while the Nectar tends to be a tad firmer at a 6 to 6.5.

Some exclusive stomach and even some back sleepers, especially those with heavier weight considerations, prefer beds with a firmer sleeping option because these typically offer enhanced support that helps to keep the hips level with their legs and torso. These folks may prefer the Nectar because it is a hair firmer than the hybrid option, but these folks may be best served by the Firm option of Sparrow.

Related: Best Mattress for Stomach Sleepers

Some side sleepers might enjoy the Sparrow more because the Medium offers some softer cushioning for the hips and shoulders, and if that is not enough, it is also available in a Plush option.

Both of these beds have fairly similar surface level response times, with no clear difference between the two. When it comes to deeper level response, the Sparrow takes the show as coils are naturally more responsive to pressure. Overall, both these options have cushioning layers that help to wash away any nagging pressure points.

Comparing Sinkage and Bounce

When compared these products contrast quite a bit in this area, seeing as Nectar is the firmer option and Nest’s Sparrow has its flexible coil unit that adds a good deal of bounce. While lying on the Nectar, you should notice that your body’s weight gradually mobilizes the conforming memory materials, allowing it to fall into a cozy deep hug.

Depending on your body’s weight and shape, the amount of sinkage in the hybrid ’s memory materials might slightly be counteracted by pocket coils at the base of the mattress, but like in the Nectar, you should rest in a comforting deep hug.

Repositioning should be easily achieved in both of these models by the firmer and more responsive materials in the middle and base layers. The bouncy springs in the hybrid mattress may better suit those who are looking for a little extra bounce in their life.

Comparing Motion Transfer

Active sleepers can often cause some of their movements to transfer across the surface of your mattress. As memory materials are known to be the bedding product of choice to isolate these movements, both of these brands fair well here.

As you might anticipate, springs allow a higher rate of bounce, although the pocket coil system does contain a lot of motion it does tail slightly behind the Nectar in this area.

Comparing Edge Support

If you cohabitate and sleep in the same bed, edge support may be something you wish to consider. Strong edges can optimize your sleeping surface by allowing you and your partner to sleep up to the edge.

When compared to other all-foam beds, Nectar does very well. When resting on the side there is little compression. But if you want extra supportive edges, even when you are sitting right on the side with an increased weight over a more narrow surface area, the hybrid with its Quantum® Edge perimeter coils may equip this option with the better edge support.

Nectar Construction

Nectar is an all-foam construction. It is air-sealed into a bag to be delivered to your residence.

Nectar uses a poly-blend material to make the cover. This breathable fabric envelops 12 inches of the contouring and supportive layers beneath.

Quilted beneath the cover is gel infused memory foam. This serves to enhance cooling properties and give the mattress a plush feeling.

  • The top, is made with 2 inches of proprietary memory material. Gel inside the material helps to expel heat from the surface.
  • The following foam, is constructed with a 4-inch soft conventional foam, which is a tad more responsive and firmer than the LushFoam™ on top. This helps the body transition into the thicker and firmer base.
  • The foundation is a standard conventional foam. This supportive foam is 6 inches tall and works to maintain spinal alignment.

Final Thoughts

So, who is the winner? Hard to say, it all depends on what you are looking for in a perfect bed for you and your needs. While both beds are affordable in their own right, Nectars price point is a stellar deal for an all-foam bed, where Nest Bedding’s hybrid would be considered affordable for a luxury hybrid model.
