The great thing about Murphy beds is that when they are tucked away, they can blend in nicely so it’s not obvious there’s a folded-up bed in the wall.

Since this is a unique bed setup, it’s helpful to know what types of mattresses and other important qualities go into finding the ideal mattress for your Murphy bed. 

Type of Mattress 

Innerspring Mattresses

Innerspring mattresses are a traditional mattress style that incorporates a coil unit with a thin comfort layer above it. These mattresses are often budget-friendly and offer lots of bounce and airflow. 

However, they don’t usually isolate motion well, which means one sleeper can more easily notice their co-sleeper’s movements. Additionally, the thin comfort layer doesn’t usually give much pressure relief for the muscles and joints.
