So then, what about the Purple RejuvenatePlus™ makes it a luxury bed, and is the higher price point worth it? I tested this bed for myself, and in this review, I’ll go over all of the elements of this mattress.

Who I Recommend The Purple RejuvenatePlus™ For:
- Combination sleepers – The RejuvenatePlus™ is a relatively firm mattress without a whole lot of give. Combo sleepers should find it easier to move around on this mattress.
- Those who love a firm mattress – Even though Purple says this is a soft mattress, it felt more like a firm bed to me.
- Heavier people – This mattress is thick, durable, and extra supportive. Heavyweight people should sink into it just enough to feel comfortable but still supported in any position.
Who I Don’t Recommend The Purple RejuvenatePlus™ For:
- Budget shoppers – To say that this mattress is not cheap might be an understatement. The cost of a Queen-sized RejuvenatePlus™ is over $6,000. If you’re looking for a more affordable option from Purple, I’d suggest checking out the Purple Original as it should still be plenty supportive.
- Lightweight side sleepers – Based on the experience of our lightweight tester, Loren, I think petite side sleepers will get the least amount of benefits from it. Instead, I’d recommend something else for petite sleepers who like to lie on their side.
Customer Reviews of the Purple RejuvenatePlus™ Mattress
The Purple website has over 13,000 customer reviews. The site doesn’t break the reviews down by mattress, but their mattress lineup has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars. Many consumers appreciate the contouring and supportiveness of the GelFlex® Grid, but some complained that it was too hot and started to sag after a year.

Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
To test the Purple RejuvenatePlus™, I implemented different methods to help me evaluate this bed for important categories like pressure relief, support, cooling, motion isolation, bounce, and edge support.
I also had my colleagues Loren Bullock and Spencer Bland try out this bed to give me honest feedback. While I tested this as an average-weight sleeper, Loren gave her notes on how it feels for lightweight sleepers, and Spencer shared his thoughts as a heavyweight sleeper.

Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 8/10
Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. The way you are shaped could also play a role here. Consider your weight, shape, and size when evaluating firmness scores.
Even though the RejuvenatePlus™ is classified as a soft mattress, it felt pretty firm to me. On our mattress firmness scale from 1 to 10, in which 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest, I gave the RejuvenatePlus™ an 8.
How Does It Feel?
The first thing I noticed on the RejuvenatePlus™ was a lot of cushioning from the top layer, which is a Euro pillow top. When I lay down, I felt comfortable and experienced some pressure relief, but I didn’t sink into the bed for deep pressure relief as I might on a different Purple mattress in which the gel grid layer is more of the focus. Instead, the Euro top feels like the primary cushion for this bed.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
According to Purple, there is no weight limit for the RejuvenatePlus™.
Side Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight side sleepers may feel comfortable, but it didn’t strike Loren as the first option these side sleepers should jump for since she couldn’t feel the grid.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – Side sleeping felt comfortable and there was slight cushioning, but for how thick this mattress is, I thought there would be more. However, I didn’t feel tension around my hips, shoulders, or lower back.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Spencer experienced a good amount of sink and cushioning, adding that it wasn’t too much for him. He also said his back felt comfortable and lifted.

Back Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – According to Loren, lightweight back sleepers should have no problem with lumbar support. Those who enjoy a very firm-feeling mattress should get the most out of this bed.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – In this position, my back didn’t sink too much and my body weight felt evenly distributed. I felt very ‘on top of’ this mattress rather than sinking into it.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Spencer noted that his back was lifted and that it sank in just a bit.

Stomach Sleepers
- Lightweight Sleepers – Lightweight stomach sleepers should feel plenty supported by this mattress, though it may feel too firm to actually be comfortable.
- Average-Weight Sleepers – This may be the best Purple mattress as far as stomach sleeping goes because of how firm it is. My back was held on top of the mattress’s surface, with no sinkage or discomfort.
- Heavyweight Sleepers – Spencer’s hips felt propped up and he enjoyed the overall cushioning from the pillow top.

Pressure Relief

I felt a lot of gentle support underneath my pressure points and lower back. This mattress was very comfortable, but it’s not nearly as pliable as the grid on the flagship Purple bed. The grid is there, but the Euro top is so thick that it is hard to feel, which is why I’m deducting a point in this category.
Also, lightweight side sleepers might not get enough pressure relief as they may be too ‘on top of’ this firm mattress.
Is the RejuvenatePlus™ Mattress Good for Pain Relief?
The Purple GelFlex™ Grid is designed to help deliver pressure and pain relief. While this mattress does still contain a layer of the gel grid, it is hard to feel beneath the thick Euro pillow top. That said, in certain positions, this mattress could work well for pain relief, depending on what your trouble spots are.
Back Pain
I think RejuvenatePlus™ is a good choice for those with back pain. It is zoned for support, meaning the area beneath the lumbar is thicker with coils in order to lift this area up for extra support. I could really feel this when lying on both my back and stomach.
Hip Pain
Sleepers with hip pain should also appreciate this mattress. The three-zoned support lifts the hips while lying on the back and stomach, so they shouldn’t dip down into the mattress.
When lying on my side, my hips felt cushioned and comfortable, without dipping into the mattress and throwing my spine out of alignment. That said, lightweight sleepers with hip pain might find this bed too firm.
Shoulder Pain
This bed should do a good job relieving shoulder pain for those who prefer to sleep on their back or stomach. Side sleepers may need something a bit more contouring, though, especially lightweight side sleepers. However, a softer mattress topper could help with this.

When measuring support, I am looking at how well a bed keeps my spine in a healthy, neutral alignment through the night.
Sometimes if a bed is too soft, the spine won’t be adequately supported and will arch or dip uncomfortably. The RejuvenatePlus™, however, truly excels in support. As an average-weight sleeper, it worked well at keeping my spine in proper alignment in all sleep positions with no sliding out of place.
Based on the experience of our plus-size tester, Spencer, I think it would also work well at providing support for heavier sleepers as its construction is quite sturdy and responsive.
Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is an important quality to consider for couples sharing a bed. It measures how well a mattress isolates movement from one side of the bed to the other. Minimal motion transfer means you’re less likely to disturb your partner.
With the RejuvenatePlus™, I detected minimal movement since the pillow top and comfort layers stifle the majority of vibrations from traveling across the bed, especially on the surface level.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling

One of the important features of Purple’s famous gel grid is its ability to draw heat away from the body and keep you cool throughout the night. Since this mattress has such a dense Euro top, however, I didn’t feel the grid below drawing heat away from me. The cover of the mattress feels comfortable, but it’s not cool to the touch.
If you’re an especially hot sleeper, I’d recommend getting a strong cooling mattress instead.
Bounce

Bounce reflects how quickly a mattress is able to spring back to its original shape. This feature is often most beneficial to combination sleepers, people with limited mobility, and sexually active couples because it can make it easier to move around on the bed. This mattress immediately reacts to my movement around the mattress surface, bouncing right back into shape.
Edge Support
5/5
Good edge support means you’re able to comfortably sit or lie along the perimeter. This can be helpful for couples who like to spread out and can help make it easier to get in and out of bed.
Whether I was sitting on or lying at the edge, I barely made a dent in the mattress. The edges are reinforced with foam, making the entire surface of the bed supportive and comfortable to use.
Performance for Couples

If you’re looking for a good mattress for couples, this might be a great choice depending on how firm you like your bed. For those who love a firmer feel, you’ll appreciate that the RejuvenatePlus™ has both great motion isolation (so you won’t wake up your partner) as well as great bounce, which can be preferable for some sexually active couples. It also has good edge support, so you two will be able to stretch out and comfortably sleep on the entire surface of the bed.

Construction: What’s Inside the Purple RejuvenatePlus™?
The RejuvenatePlus™ is a hybrid bed, meaning it has both layers of foam and coils. The first thing you’ll notice about this mattress after unpacking it is its cover – it is a quilted comfort cover with an antimicrobial finish. Though the cover is designed to be cooling, it doesn’t feel especially cool to the touch.
Beneath the cover, the RejuvenatePlus™ contains five layers that all add up to a very thick, 16.5-inch profile. Below, we’ll go over each one.
- Beneath the cover is a plush, pressure-relieving Euro top. This layer is made up of active response comfort foam, which cradles the joints and relieves pressure but snaps back into shape quickly.
- Below the Euro top is a layer of Purple’s GelFlex® Grid Plus. This layer is meant to provide added support beneath the softer pillow top while helping to keep the mattress cool throughout the night. The edges are also reinforced with this foam, so they shouldn’t dip down beneath your weight.
- Two dual foam comfort layers lie beneath the gel grid. These two units provide a transitional section from the top layers to the springs beneath, along with added support.
- The final layer is made up of pocketed coils. These coils are zoned so that they are even more supportive beneath the heaviest parts of the body, like the hips and lumbar spine, to promote the best possible spinal alignment.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
Off-gassing typically occurs when a foam mattress is delivered in a box and it is expanding. This can be a faint or strong chemical smell that takes some time to dissipate.
The RejuvenatePlus™ did not have any sort of off-gassing smell. Also, this mattress arrives fully expanded, so unpackaging can be a bit difficult since the mattress is so heavy. I’d recommend doing this with a friend.

- CertiPUR-US® certified – The foams in this bed are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® is a third-party program that ensures the foams meet rigorous health and safety standards. This means they don’t contain harmful substances like ozone depleters, PBDEs, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. They should also have low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
- CleanAir GOLD certified – The gel and poly foams in this mattress have received a GOLD rating from Intertek, a third-party quality assurance company. This confirms that certified products will reduce health risks related to chemical exposure and meet the standards of other agencies promoting minimal VOC exposure.

Do I need a base for my Purple RejuvenatePlus™?
Yes, you’ll need a base for this mattress. Since the RejuvenatePlus™ is an especially large and heavy mattress, you’ll need a strong and sturdy base. Purple recommends the Purple Foundation or Purple Platform, which both hold up to 2,000 pounds.
What is the lifespan of a Purple mattress?
According to Purple, their mattresses are designed to last about 10 years with normal use. You shouldn’t see any sagging in your mattress during this time, and if you do, contact Purple for warranty support.
Do Purple mattresses sleep hot?
Purple’s proprietary GelFlex™ Grid was designed to stay temperature-neutral throughout the night, which makes it a good fit for hot sleepers. Additionally, their beds with coils have increased airflow and breathability. They also use a cooling Quilted Comfort Cover that should stay cool, or at least neutral in temperature, through the night.
While I wouldn’t say this mattress sleeps hot, it isn’t the best option out there for cooling.

My Verdict
Not that you know the pros and cons of Purple’s RejuvenatePlus™, it’s time for the final verdict. I think this is an excellent mattress for a variety of people, including heavyweight sleepers, stomach sleepers, couples, people who want great edge support, and anyone who prefers a firm-feeling mattress. The only category where it didn’t wow me was temperature regulation, but if you don’t run at hot, this isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker.
However, the price tag is extremely high, and it’s a more substantial mattress, with a 16.5-inch profile and weighing 157 pounds for a Queen, so handling and unpackaging the mattress will be a two-person job. Overall, I gave this bed a score of 4.5 out of 5.
