Side sleepers know the struggle of falling asleep with pressure build-up in the shoulders, knees, and hips. Those who sleep on the side have their weight concentrated across a narrow surface, which can be uncomfortable if your bed isn’t made to accommodate this position.

The Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid can help relieve some of that tension as it’s specially made for side sleepers. The carefully selected foams are made to shape around your shoulders, hips, and other joints to ensure cushioning and pressure relief. In this review, I will discuss the construction, benefits, and performance to help you decide if the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid is a good choice for you.

Who I Recommend The Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid For:

• Side sleepers – This bed has a mid-range firmness, so it should feel good in most sleeping positions. However, its foam construction makes it among the best options for side sleepers struggling with pressure build-up in the shoulders, hips, and knees.

• Classic foam fans – Those who like all-foam beds should like how this foam hybrid feels. The construction features five foam layers working together to provide a balance of cushioning, sinkage, pressure relief, and support in different sleeping positions.

Who I Don’t Recommend The Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid For:

• People who prefer a classic hybrid – Although it’s called a hybrid, this bed doesn’t actually feature any coils. Instead, it has the AirFoam™ Flex Dynamic Support System in its three bottom layers. The system adapts to your curves and movements, but those who prefer a classic hybrid mattress may want to look elsewhere.

• Stomach sleepers – Although this Nolah should fit a range of sleepers, some stomach sleepers may find it too soft. Stomach sleepers need maximum support to keep the hips aligned, and those who weigh over 170 pounds may not get this from the Nolah Signature Foam Hybrid.

How Does the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid Feel?

The top layer of the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid allows a bit of sinkage to contour your curves for great pressure relief, which should help if you struggle with discomfort. Back sleepers on this bed may feel their hips sinking a bit, but this shouldn’t throw the spine out of alignment. Instead, the lower layers of the support system should keep everything straight, although how this bed feels will also on your weight.

According to Nolah, the Signature All-Foam Hybrid can handle different weights depending on the bed size you choose. Sizes up to a full can handle up to 300 pounds, whereas a queen and larger can handle up to 600 pounds.

My colleague Sosha Lewis stepped in to help test for pressure relief. She lay on top of a pressure map on the mattress. These maps are meant to pick up any pressure buildup. Reds and yellows mean there’s pressure, whereas greens and blues mean little to no pressure. 

According to Sosha, “The combination of support and luxurious foam layers provided a surface where all your troubles went to die.” 

“I am not a back sleeper, but this bed made me want to be one.”, she added.

Side sleepers should like it equally as much. Sosha experienced some pressure around the shoulder area, but she explained, “I was testing without a pillow, and I think the right pillow would help with that.”

Is the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid Mattress Good for Pain Relief? 

I think the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid should do a good job of relieving pain for lightweight and average-weight sleepers. The foams should contour to their bodies while also providing spinal support. Heavier people may want something more supportive, though, to prevent them from sagging too far down in the bed.  

Back Pain	While I think this Nolah bed could provide enough spinal support to most back and side sleepers, stomach sleepers could find their back alignment compromised. This is because the softer feel could allow their midsection to dip too much, causing the lower back to uncomfortably curve. Explore our picks for the best mattresses for back pain here.
Hip Pain	Hip pain is common among side sleepers, which is why these people usually steer towards softer beds. The plushness of this bed should give lightweight and average-weight side sleepers good relief around their hips. However, it may not provide heavyweight sleepers with enough support. Shoulder Pain	Shoulder pain is also a problem side sleepers usually struggle with. Those weighing around 150 pounds or less should find sufficient relief in the Signature All-Foam Hybrid, but those who weigh more may want a firmer mattress with more support. Find beds for shoulder pain here.

The Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid has a strong support unit, although it’s not a classic hybrid mattress with coils. The AirFoam™ Flex Dynamic Support System is what sets this mattress apart from other foam beds, as it’s made from three layers of high-density foam.

The system is designed to perform like coils, offering similar levels of responsiveness and flexibility. The first and third layers have micro-cut waves that help the mattress adapt to your body and movement. The second layer in this system is a high-density AirFoam™ HD that acts as the main support layer because it’s the firmest and most durable.

I gave this Nolah a 4 out of 5 because it has a medium firmness, is at least 10 inches tall, and should work for most body types. However, I took off a point because it’s not ideal for plus-size sleepers.

For cooling, we typically use a temperature gun to see just how well a bed does at temperature regulation. We take a temperature before lying on it, then after five minutes of lying on it, and finally after 10 minutes on the bed. Sosha tested the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid and was just as impressed as the rest of us.

According to Sosha, “it felt cool to the touch, and the temperature only went up 5 degrees during the course of testing.” This is great for hot sleepers, especially if you’re a fan of all-foam beds that don’t usually have such good cooling properties. “The cooling on this bed is terrific for any bed, but it is mind-blowing for an all-foam,” Sosha explains.

Beds with lots of bounce typically help with repositioning, which is useful if you have limited mobility, are sexually active, or are a combination sleeper. 

As part of my testing for this, I evaluated how easy it was to move around on the mattress. Given its all-foam construction, this bed doesn’t provide considerable bounce, and it was harder to move around on, so I wouldn’t recommend it for these groups, especially combo sleepers. This lack of bounce earned this bed a 3.5 out of 5 here.

This category is about any ways the brand and/or brand go above and beyond, whether it be their policies or the design and performance of the mattress itself. As far as design goes, it’s pretty standard, despite the interesting name, this is still a foam mattress. However, it does come with some unique proprietary materials from Nolah that I think probably help with cooling, such as the AirFoam™ and cotton cover. I scored it at a 3.5 out of 5 here because the bed doesn’t really have any other standout design features.

You can connect with Nolah via their online chat system or by email. I couldn’t easily locate a reachable phone number on the site though. Their customer policies are industry standard, but the lack of a phone number was a little off-putting, which is why I gave it a 3.5 here.

This Nolah model has strong motion isolation, which makes it a viable fit for restless partners or those with different sleeping schedules. However, it lacks good edge support, which would allow couples to use the entire surface of the bed if they want to spread out. It also doesn’t have much, which means sexually active partners may not like it as much. For these reasons, we only gave it a 3.5 here.

Construction: What’s Inside the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid Mattress

The Nolah Signature Foam Hybrid is 12 inches tall and features five foam layers, three of which are part of the bed’s support system. The cover of this mattress is made with organic cotton cover and is designed to enhance breathability for cooling at the surface.

• The first comfort layer is made of 2 inches of AirFoam™ that contours to your body. The foam cushions your curves and sensitive points without trapping you inside.
• The next comfort layer is a more responsive foam. This durable layer enhances support while allowing airflow so that the foam construction doesn’t overheat.
• The AirFoam™ Flex Dynamic Support System starts with a foam layer with micro-cut waves. This helps mimic the coils in a traditional hybrid.
• Next is high-density AirFoam™ HD foam, acting as the bed’s main support unit that holds your body in alignment while ensuring the rest of the layers don’t sink in.

The Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid comes in a box, so it’s easy to carry from your front door to the bedroom. Nolah also offers white glove delivery, which is a professional service that can remove your old mattress and set up the new one.

Place the box on your foundation of choice and remove the packaging so that the mattress can unroll. This shouldn’t last too long, so you’ll know your mattress is ready once all the wrinkles from the cover are gone. Any off-gassing should also dissipate within 24 hours, but if you notice it still lingers, allow the bed to vent for a little longer.

My Verdict of the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid 

After having our testers try out this bed in person, I’d say the Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid is a high-value mattress with plenty to offer. The bed has a good combination of pressure relief and support for those who like sleeping on their side and back. 

Heavyweight sleepers and those who like sleeping on their stomach may want a firmer bed, though. 

This bed had good motion isolation, which could make it a great choice for those with a restless co-sleeper, though we wish the bed had strong edges for spreading out. This bed earned an overall rating of 3.9 out of 5.
