Construction/Materials/Layers

Leesa Construction

The Leesa mattress takes advantage of a few different types of foam to make sure that the overall sensation hits the sweet spot for the wide majority of users. The strategy of the company is pretty much straightforward – it attempts to deliver a truly medium firmness, comfort, and overall feel so that it can appeal to as many people as it is possible.

The bed is comprised of three separate layers, and they are made of different types of foams. Let’s have a closer look:

  • The 1st layer is made out of Avena foam. This is a proprietary blend which is used only by Leesa. It reveals pretty much the same performance capabilities of latex, but it is thought to be far more reliable and durable. Therefore, it can offer more value for your cash while, at the same time, it keeps the price relatively low. The foam is breathable, and it will help you remain cool throughout the entire night. At the same time, it is responsive and incredibly comfortable. Avena foam is also going to help make sure that your body is gently contoured so that it can reduce strain and potential pain.
  • The 2nd layer of the mattress is made out of memory foam. It is 2 inches thick – just like the top layer. It intends to deliver exceptional support and to relieve pressure points between your body and the bed itself.
  • The 3rd layer acts as a solid foundation for the entire mattress. It is comprised of high-density support foam. The material, even though highly supportive, is also designed as very breathable. It allows the air to pass through, helping them guarantee that the entire mattress is well cooled-off throughout the whole night.

When it comes to the cover, the mattress comes with a 100% seamless cover made of Lycra and polyester. It is very breathable, and it attributes to the sleek appeal of the bed. It doesn’t dampen the effects of the layers in the bed, which is great.

Yogabed Construction

Similarly to the previous, the Yogabed is also taking advantage of a few different types of foams layered across four different levels. They are distributed as it follows:

  • The 1st layer is made out of a particular Yoga Instant Response foam which is 0.75-inches thick. This is a foam which is specifically designed and developed by the company. It is intended to mould very quickly and to adapt to the contours of your body as it moves during the night. At the same time, its bounce factor is slightly better than the traditional latex foam. It is also intended to conveniently disperse the heat throughout the entire surface of the bed.
  • The 2nd layer is comprised of Yoga Gel. Like the previous one, this is also made specifically by the company. It is 1.75-inches thick, and its principal designation is to disperse the heat throughout the entire surface of the mattress – from side to bottom. This helps guarantee that you wouldn’t have to wake up in the middle of the night all hot. Also, the layer is even going to bring the deep compression support as well as stability.
  • The 3rd layer is made out of high-density support foam, and it is 6.5-inches thick. Along with the 4th layer of 1-inch foundation foam, they serve as the base of the bed. They maintain its overall integrity and enhance the composition of the bed.

The cover of the Yogabed has a textured pattern that’s rather interesting. One of the coolest things about this cover is that you can remove it and put it back on, making this a hassle-free endeavor when you have to clean it. Just throw it in the washing machine.

Firmness/Feel/Support

Leesa Firmness

As you might know, the Leesa mattress intends to bring in medium firmness so that it can appeal and suit the sleeping preferences of the vast majority of sleepers. And seems to be spot on.

Leesa is the definition of a medium-firm mattress. It scores 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale where ten is the firmest. It is intended to accommodate all type of sleepers, regardless of whether they prefer to sleep on their sides, back, or on their stomach. However, a quick note here – strict side sleepers usually require softer beds, given they have an average weight. If they are overweight, however, the Leesa mattress, alongside all else which score the same firmness, are a going to come off a bit softer. Therefore, you might want to look at a few options if you are overweight.

As you lie down initially, you can feel the immediate interaction with the Avena foam. There is a slight comfortable push-back, and the bed begins to accommodate to your body’s curves immediately. Not long after you lie, it is going to contour your shape even more.

Additionally, the bed offers a strong showing in the support department. You can rest assured that the design will help your spine align in all sleeping positions. This is also going to work on relieving any type of pressure points which might be taking place between your body and the bed itself. All in all, this may be a great solution even if you are having some issues with your back, hips, or shoulders.

Yogabed Firmness

Now, regarding firmness, the Yogabed is slightly firmer in comparison to the Leesa. It scores about 6.5 to 7 on the same scale, giving it a bit of an overall different feel. This is not a bad thing, though. It truly appeals to people who prefer a slightly more sturdy bed.

The Yogabed offers a rather moderate degree of hug and sinkage. It amounts to about 1 to 1.5 inches in a regular lying position. Compared to the Leesa, the initial push-back is slightly more expressed, but that’s to be expected as the top layer is a bit denser than the one made of Avena foam in the Leesa mattress.

When it comes to cooling, however, the Yogabed makes a statement. The latex top layer and the gel middle one are going to work in close sync so that they can prevent the buildup of heat. They’re going to try to ensure that heat is perfectly distributed so that it doesn’t accumulate. Regarding support, the mattress performs more or less similar to the Leesa. It is consistent, and it accommodates different sleeping positions.

Should You Buy the Yogabed the Leesa?

The Leesa mattress has a very distinct and balanced feel and the Yogabed is a slightly firmer offering. Both use specialty foams and temperature regulation capabilities, offering comfort to the people who choose to purchase them. It comes down to what you are looking to experience each night.

We would recommend the Yogabed to anyone who:

  • Likes a slightly firmer overall appeal – it scores almost 7 out of 10 on the firmness range. The bed is a bit firmer in comparison. Of course, if you look for something firm but not dense, this could be a great option.
  • Is looking for more bounce – the bed does bring more bounce to the table which is something that a lot of people find convenient. This is great for amorous, sitting, and sleeping activities.

We would recommend the Leesa Mattress to anyone who:

  • Looks for a bed with neutral firmness – the Leesa scores a solid 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. It is positioned great in this regard. The majority of people can relate to this particular firmness level.
  • Wants a balanced overall feel – the mattress brings a balanced amount of sinkage and also body contouring capabilities. At the same time, it’s also responsive enough to prevent you from feeling trapped.
  • Is looking for a responsive solution – the Avena foam is known for reacting in a manner which is quite similar to latex. It adjusts very quickly to the changes in your movements.
  • Wants great value – the mattress isn’t as expensive while, at the same time, it compares to high-end solutions regarding comfort, support, and overall feel.
  • Wants to support a good cause – For every ten purchased beds, the company donates one to people in need.

As you can see, there is a lot of merit in both solutions, and both options are worth your time and consideration.
