It goes without saying that choosing the best bed is a process which requires a lot of consideration and quite a bit of research. There are a significant amount of options out there and picking the one that’s most appropriate for your preferences and the preferences of your spouse can be something quite challenging.

This is why we’ve taken the liberty to have a look at a reliable yet affordable option on the market – the Aireloom Mattress.

You will love the Aireloom if:

  • You are a fan of spring beds. Aireloom beds have a layer of pocketed coils which are going to bring that traditional, bouncy appeal. Of course, it also offers splendid support.
  • You are looking for a luxury feel with reliable quality. The beds are comparatively expensive when you stack them against other counterparts, but they perform incredibly well.
  • You enjoy a handmade design. Aireloom offers handmade designs which are truly beautiful. They are going to attribute to the overall ambiance of your bedroom.

You might not like the Aireloom if:

  • You are looking for a soft model with serious sinkage. This one doesn’t sink that much thanks to the pocket coils.
  • You don’t like the off-gassing smell. While this is something fairly regular, Aireloom beds also come with it, and it is likely to stay for a couple of days before dissipating completely.

Now, as we’ve seen some of the strong points and some of the flaws, let’s have a closer look at the specifications surrounding the Aireloom.

Construction/Layers/Materials

Construction

The construction of the mattress is actually quite interesting. It comes with a total of 5 different layers. Let’s have a closer look.

  • The 1st and the 2nd layers are made out of Talalay latex. This is a very convenient material, and it is well-known for the fact that it is cool and it brings a lot of comfort at the same time. The layers are also going to reduce the motion transfer conveniently so that you don’t have to worry about midnight movements. Furthermore, it is going to keep it fairly responsive so that you don’t feel trapped.
  • The 3rd layer is of cotton – which brings in a luxurious feel.
  • The 4th layer is made out of memory foam. It serves the purpose of a transitional layer which is going to introduce additional support to the entire structure. Furthermore, this is what’s going to play the major role when it comes to contouring your body and making sure that your spine is aligned.
  • The 5th layer is made out of pocketed coils, and it’s the foundation of the bed. It is specifically intended to ensure that you get the necessary support. Additionally, it is also going to bring in that specific, slightly bouncy sensation of innerspring mattresses.

The materials are high quality. Aireloom has enhanced breathability as it includes Talalay latex in the composition and it’s very responsive as well.

Support/Comfort/Firmness

Support

The bed is very reliable, which is something that you might want to account for. It brings with it a sought-after luxurious feel and royal-like comfort. The mattress is going to help ensure that your spine is perfectly aligned and it should work to relieve the pressure points.

Additionally, it has a medium feel. It is not too firm, but it’s also not too soft. You can say that it scores a solid 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale where 10 is the firmest option. This means that it can provide you with a great balance between sinkage and comfort. You may find that you feel as if you are sleeping on a cloud.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the two Aireloom mattress models sold in Restoration Hardware—Aireloom Alta Luxetop and the Breckenridge.

Our twenty year old king size Aireloom finally needs replacement. It was the best investment we ever made bar none. The best support imaginable while being supported by hands of angels resting on a cloud. I am far from a poet. If anything, this crochety old gal does not mince her words. Having read hundreds of mattress reviews over hundreds of hours, I fear that even the Aireloom might disappoint since todays’s mattress standards do not reflect the same quality of twenty years ago. Please tell me that I am wrong about the Aireloom. Thank you,

      Hey Catherine,

You are right that standards changed a lot even in the last five years, let alone 20. If you aren’t sure if it’s the right for you at the moment, check our latest top picks and I’m sure you will find something you like.

Thank you Sarah for replying to my question. Regarding the Aireloom review, I am interested in learning which model in particular you had actually reviewed.

The search is enough to drive a consumer mad. Apparently I am only
one amongst thousands and thousands of hapless consumers who run in circles comparing and contrasting the mattress brands nd wind up back at the starting point.

If I owned an American mattress company today, 2018, and I am not referring to Aireloom/Kluft in particular, I would make darn sure, that my product adhered to the high standards which had made me successful in the first place. There would be no complaints of sagging. I am aware of the increased cost of manufacturing and taking into account that some high end mattresses are “hand made”, there is no excuse that the overall “sagging” problem in todays’s mattresses has not been addressed and remedied. It’s actually a no- brainer.

It does not require Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Advanced aerospace and automotive mathematics not needed. The extra few bucks it might cost to make a mattress that retains its showroom support (it is only a mattress guys) would result in a consumer internet revolution that would spread the good word about the brand. The bed in a box mattress industry would flounder, the big names would return a healthy profit and the angst of miserable consumers would be replaced by happy shoppers. Do you hear me? No more sagging!!!

    Thank you.

    Catherine

ANy recommendations on what kind of mattress pad to get with an Aireloom Mattress? I hate to ruin the lovely soft feel of the mattress, but want to protect it from the natural oils and sweat while sleeping. I can’t find a mattress pad that is organic (cotton or similar) that doesn’t feel crunchy.

Am so confused. Read tons of research & info on topic but even more confused. Could you please give opinion on Hotel Collection Vitagenic Copper Gel Firm? Macy’s carries. And do I need base w/whistles & bells or just simple set? Scared to buy bed online even though friends say should try. Also, thought I wanted to go platform route rather than traditional but no idea on that count. I know I’m all over the place but wanted to take advantage of sales that end on 6/3…any advice? I’m open for other options. Want a quality bed w/o breaking bank. Need help. Almost out of time. Thx, PZ~

Can you please compare the Airloome Rip Van Winkle mattress with the Royal Pedic Premier Cotton w/ wool wrap mattress w/ latex topper? It’s so difficult to find reviews for these high end, hand crafted beds.

Also what’s your thoughts on Vispring?

I LOVE Catherine’s comments. I just spent time in 3 brick and mortar stores trying out numerous beds. I seriously considered putting down big dollars for the Aireloom I tried, but if that MF starts sagging after 2 years, I will be pissed!
Starting the search all over again it seems…
No sagging! I bought a Dunlopillo bed 2 years ago. It is a reputable UK company and it is sagging badly. 1″ is too much too soon in my opinion. I weigh 155lbs, and my wife less, so it must be terrible for larger people!
    Aargh.
    Thanks, Catherine.

I agree that it makes NO SENSE that this review doesn’t state WHICH MODEL of the Aireloom he is evaluating. SMH.

Have the extra firm cal king for less than a week and already love it. No tossing and turning all night. It is however very heavy and making the bed takes my husband and me together!

+ PROS: Sleeping really well Very little time to break in.
    - CONS: Very heavy and very tall. Expensive.

I have owned an Aireloom luxetop evening queen for 3 years and it is heaven! There was never an odor of any kind. I rotate it as recommended and it’s like sleeping on a cloud that’s not too soft or firm. Pricey but worth it.

    + PROS: All pros
    - CONS: No cons

      Hi Wendy,

Our research shows that this brand can be found at the UK Retailer And So To Bed, which has locations throughout the country. I would try reaching out to the location nearest you and inquiring about what beds they have in stock. Thanks so much for reaching out.
